Mushu is the small red dragon who accompanies Mulan in Disney's animated film Mulan, released in 1998 and voiced by Eddie Murphy. In the story he acts as her guardian and comic sidekick, often trying to prove himself despite his size and lack of status among the family ancestors. The 'dragon, not lizard' moment captures that running joke, as Mushu bristles at being dismissed as a lesser creature. Shared widely as a short reaction clip, it remains popular with fans of the film and with creators who need a quick, recognisable correction for a mistaken identity.

Mushu insists he is a dragon, not a lizard, in this funny clip from Disney's Mulan, perfect for correcting a mistaken identity or reacting to an insult.
In this short clip, Mushu delivers his famous correction with fast, indignant energy, insisting that he is a dragon rather than a lizard. His voice is high-pitched, boastful and slightly defensive, with the comic timing that made the little guardian a fan favourite in Disney's Mulan. The line lands as a playful protest, funny because Mushu is so small compared with the grand dragons he claims to belong beside. Listeners hear pride, frustration and showmanship in just a few seconds, which is why the moment works so well as a quick reaction when someone gets a detail completely wrong.
