The theme comes from Sonic the Hedgehog, released by Sega in 1991 for the Genesis, where it played over the game's title screen before players pressed start. As Sonic became Sega's mascot and the series grew across consoles, compilations and re-releases, the short melody stayed closely tied to the character's first appearance. Online, creators reuse it as shorthand for speed, retro gaming and 1990s nostalgia, which keeps it familiar even to viewers who never played the original game.

The Sonic 1 title theme is the short, instantly recognisable melody that plays on the title screen of the original Sonic the Hedgehog game. It opens with a bright, rising chime that feels like a starting gun for an adventure, then settles into a bouncy, cheerful synth tune with a steady, driving rhythm. The sound is clean, energetic and unmistakably early 1990s Sega, full of optimism and speed. Hearing it tends to trigger immediate nostalgia, making viewers smile, lean in and expect something fast, playful and fun to follow.
