The Drunk Scotsman is a traditional Scottish folk comedy song, also performed as The Scotsman, about a well dressed Scotsman who falls asleep by the roadside after drinking. Two young women find him, lift his kilt to check a famous rumour, and leave a blue ribbon as a joke. Its ring-ding diddle chorus is the part most people remember and clip for soundboards. Recordings by folk groups and pub singers helped it spread at festivals, on radio, and later in online videos and meme edits.
