Jeopardy is the long-running American quiz show created by Merv Griffin, with the syndicated version launching in 1984 and hosted for decades by Alex Trebek. In each round the board fill accompanies the animation that loads clues into six categories, a routine viewers heard in every episode. The 2009 to 2016 version reflects the show's updated set and graphics from that period. Clips of the cue spread through soundboards and fan edits, and creators still use it as shorthand for trivia, knowledge and suspense before an answer.
