Old Phone has been a stock ringtone on Apple's iPhone since the early iOS era, modelled on the electromechanical bells inside mid-century rotary telephones. Unlike composed ringtones, it is a direct imitation of hardware older listeners grew up answering at home and in offices. As iPhones spread, the sound stayed in the ringtone list for years alongside Marimba, keeping it instantly familiar. Online, creators reuse it whenever a scene needs an unmistakably old-fashioned call, a generational joke, or an alarm-like ring that a younger character treats as strange and loud.

The classic iOS Old Phone ringtone that mimics a vintage rotary telephone bell, used for retro call scenes, notifications and nostalgic edits.
This is the Old Phone ringtone familiar from iPhones, recreating the urgent ringing of a vintage rotary telephone with two metal bells struck in rapid alternation. The pattern repeats in short bursts with brief pauses between them, instantly signalling an incoming call before smartphones adopted softer marimba tones. Its harsh, insistent timbre cuts through background noise and carries a distinctly retro character. Listeners recognise it immediately as a landline from another era, which makes it effective for tension, comedy timing, or a deliberate throwback moment when a modern phone would feel too quiet or too contemporary.
