The clip draws on two familiar worlds: Peter Griffin, the loud patriarch at the centre of Family Guy, and Beverly Hills Cop, the Eddie Murphy action comedy about a Detroit detective in Beverly Hills. Family Guy has long built jokes around movie parodies and pop culture references, so a Peter Griffin take on that fish-out-of-water detective story fits its style perfectly. On soundboards and in short-form edits, the clip is shared as a quick shorthand for false confidence and cartoon swagger, which is why it keeps showing up in reaction videos and meme compilations.

Peter Griffin's Beverly Hills Cop clip from Family Guy, with his over-the-top take on the classic movie theme for funny reaction edits and memes.
This short clip puts Peter Griffin in full Beverly Hills Cop mode, channelling the swagger of the classic action comedy through his unmistakable Rhode Island voice. The delivery is loud, confident and slightly unhinged, with Peter leaning into the joke as if he really is an undercover detective on a glamorous case. It lands as a sudden burst of cartoon bravado, funny because it mixes a familiar movie reference with Family Guy's trademark absurdity. Played over a reveal, a dramatic entrance or an overconfident plan, it instantly tells viewers that something ridiculous is about to happen, and that the character involved has absolutely no doubt about it.
