Shika Shika comes from My Deer Friend Nokotan, the 2024 anime comedy about a former delinquent student whose quiet school life is upended by Nokotan, a girl who is also a deer. The short chant is used in the show as a scene transition, marking a jump to the next gag with the same bouncy rhythm each time. Clips of the chant spread widely on TikTok and in anime edits, where its repetitive deer wordplay became instantly recognisable even to viewers who had not seen the series, keeping it popular as a quick, cheerful edit sound.

The catchy Shika Shika chant from My Deer Friend Nokotan, used as a scene transition jingle. Creators drop it for quick cuts, meme edits and anime reveals.
Shika Shika is a short, bouncy chant built around the repeated word shika, meaning deer in Japanese, sung in a bright, almost nursery-rhyme style that sticks in your head after a single listen. The melody hops along with a cheerful, cartoonish energy, punctuated by crisp vocal rhythms that make it feel like a tiny musical bumper rather than a full song. In context, it signals a sudden shift to something silly, cute or absurd, instantly lowering the tension and telling viewers not to take the next moment too seriously. Its simplicity is the joke, turning an ordinary cut into a playful, meme-ready beat.
