SMG4 is a long-running YouTube comedy series built around parody versions of Nintendo characters, and Meggy Spletzer is one of its best-known original characters, an energetic Inkling who often ends up in chaotic situations. Short clips of her exaggerated reactions, including this scream, are lifted by fans into meme edits, gaming videos and reaction compilations, where a familiar cartoon voice instantly signals panic. Because the series has a large online following, the sound keeps circulating as shorthand for a moment going badly wrong.

Meggy screaming in SMG4 is a short, high-pitched cartoon scream used in memes and edits to instantly show panic, shock or a sudden comedic reaction.
Meggy's scream is a single, sustained cartoon shriek that rises quickly and holds its high pitch for just over a second before cutting off abruptly. It sounds panicked and exaggerated rather than realistic, with the kind of bright, animated delivery that makes a small mishap feel like a full-blown disaster. In a video it lands as an instant jolt of alarm, pulling the viewer's attention to whatever has just gone wrong on screen. Because it is so over the top, it also reads as funny, turning shock into a punchline and giving editors a simple way to sell surprise without needing any dialogue.
