American Psycho is a 2000 satirical horror film directed by Mary Harron and based on Bret Easton Ellis's 1991 novel, with Christian Bale starring as Manhattan investment banker Patrick Bateman. The film's mix of yuppie excess, deadpan humour and escalating violence made Bateman an enduring internet figure, and short clips from the movie are widely reused in edits, memes and soundboards. This particular clip works because it distils that unsettling contrast into fifteen seconds, giving creators a recognisable shorthand for controlled menace without needing the full scene.
Over dit geluid
A short American Psycho movie clip capturing Patrick Bateman's chilling calm, often used in edits to signal a dark twist or a character losing control.
This 15-second American Psycho clip carries the film's signature tension in a compact burst, with a controlled, almost polite delivery that feels far more unsettling than shouting would. The clean dialogue sits against the movie's polished 1980s world, making the shift from businesslike calm to menace feel sudden and darkly funny. Listeners recognise the contrast instantly, which is why the clip lands so well as a punchline, a reveal or a warning that a seemingly normal character is about to snap.
