The clip comes from the Neuro-sama fan soundboard, a collection of short audio bites built around Vedal's AI VTuber Neuro-sama, who rose to prominence on Twitch as an AI streamer in late 2022. 'BRB' is her rapid-fire way of saying she is stepping away, and fans lifted it into a shareable reaction sound. It now pops up in Discord voice calls and streams as a comedic way to announce a short break, often played right before someone mutes, next to the classic Discord join sound that signals who is in the channel.

Neuro-sama's quick 'BRB' line from her fan soundboard, the AI VTuber's way of saying she is stepping away, used by streamers and users as a funny AFK sign-off.
The clip is barely a second long: a clipped, cheerful burst of 'BRB!' delivered in Neuro-sama's bright synthetic voice, like an anime streamer slamming a door on her way out. It sounds less like a spoken phrase and more like a notification, which is exactly why it works. Dropped into a stream or a voice call, it turns a mundane 'I'll be right back' into a punchline, giving the moment an abrupt, sitcom-style exit. Listeners get the joke instantly because the delivery is so exaggerated, and the suddenness makes the silence that follows it funnier.
