Over dit geluid

The short KDE Plasma login sound, a gentle system chime heard when the desktop starts up. Used in Linux setup videos, tech intros and startup montages.

The short KDE Plasma login sound is a brief, polished system chime that greets you as the desktop loads. It opens with a soft, rounded tone that rises gently before settling into a warm, clean finish, lasting just over eight seconds without ever feeling harsh or intrusive. The sound feels modern and calm, instantly signalling that the computer is ready, and it carries a familiar, slightly playful character that Linux users recognise at once. In a video it adds a sense of a fresh start, a clean workspace, or a satisfying boot-up moment, grounding a tech scene in something real and recognisable.

Pro-tip

Drop it over the exact frame the desktop appears, keeping it just below your voice so the chime stays crisp. Pair it with a clean screen recording or wallpaper reveal, and do not loop it, since the full chime already completes the startup moment.

Meer informatie

KDE Plasma is the open-source desktop environment for Linux developed by the KDE community, and its system sounds are designed to make starting the computer feel calm and welcoming rather than abrupt. This short login version circulates online among Linux users who share desktop setups, custom themes and boot sequences, often as a nod to the 'I use KDE Plasma, by the way' in-joke. Because it is instantly recognisable to that community and easy to drop into short videos, it has remained a popular choice for tech creators marking a fresh start or a new install.
