A puppet clown lets out an exaggerated wailing cry, a long comedic 'waaaa'. Meme creators use it for fails, tantrums and over-the-top reactions in funny videos.

This clip captures a puppet clown breaking into a full theatrical cry, a wavering high-pitched 'waaaaaa' that stretches for several seconds with shaky, hiccup-like wobbles. The voice is deliberately cartoonish rather than genuinely sad, with the wobble of a hand-puppet performance that makes the misery feel staged. It lands as pure comedy because the crying is so overblown, and viewers instantly read it as mock despair. Dropped over a reaction shot or a fail, it turns a small setback into a melodramatic moment, squeezing a laugh out of exaggerated self-pity.

Pro-tip

Place the cry right on the exact frame someone's plan collapses, and cut it before the wail fades so the joke stays punchy. Pair it with a zoom on the victim's face, but avoid using it over genuinely upsetting moments where mock crying feels mean.

Meer informatie

No specific show or performer is documented as the source of this puppet clown cry, so it circulates as a free-floating meme sound passed between soundboards and short-form video apps. Its appeal is the instantly recognisable 'waaaa' shape, which needs no translation and reads as fake sadness in any language. Editors favour it for quick reaction memes because the five-second length fits a single gag beat. It sits naturally alongside other exaggerated comedy vocals such as a chipmunk laugh, and it keeps resurfacing whenever creators need instant mock melodrama.
