Nutty is the green, candy-obsessed squirrel from Happy Tree Friends, the long-running animated web series built around cute animal characters in darkly comic situations. His gasp comes from his tendency to react instantly and intensely whenever candy or danger appears, which made short character sounds easy to lift into edits and memes. Online, the clip spread as a compact reaction sound for surprise, temptation, and sudden realisation, sitting alongside other expressive reaction clips such as Anime Wow. It remains useful because the inhale is unmistakable in under two seconds and needs no dialogue to be understood.

Nutty's sharp gasp from Happy Tree Friends is a quick surprised inhale, used in reaction edits when a character spots something shocking or tempting.
This is the brief, high-pitched gasp made by Nutty, the candy-obsessed squirrel from Happy Tree Friends, as he suddenly inhales in surprise or alarm. Lasting just over a second, it starts with a sharp intake of breath and a slightly squeaky, cartoonish edge that instantly reads as shock, delight, or dawning temptation. Because the sound is so short and expressive, it lands immediately without needing any setup, making a reaction feel bigger and funnier in a single beat. It works best as a punctuation mark in a scene, signalling that a character has just noticed something unexpected, dangerous, or deliciously tempting.
