Ulysses Guimarães was a Brazilian politician and president of the Constituent Assembly that drafted the 1988 Constitution after the military dictatorship ended in 1985. During the promulgation speech on 5 October 1988, he declared his hatred and disgust for dictatorship, a line that became one of the most quoted moments in Brazilian democratic history. The short phrase later circulated in textbooks, documentaries and news retrospectives, and online it is reused as a meme sound and serious reaction whenever authoritarianism, censorship or democratic rights are debated in Brazil.
