Punpun is the stark, bird-like protagonist of Inio Asano's manga Goodnight Punpun, a melancholic coming-of-age story where his blank face makes him easy to remix. The .exe suffix comes from the creepypasta tradition kicked off by Sonic.exe, in which familiar characters are recast as corrupted killers in fake haunted games. Punpun.exe edits mix his innocent design with glitch art and horror audio, and short jumpscare stingers like this one spread through meme soundboards, Discord servers and editing communities as a quick way to fake a haunted-game scare, in the same rotation as any classic scream meme.
Over dit geluid
A loud distorted Punpun.exe jumpscare sound riffing on Goodnight Punpun and creepypasta horror memes. Editors use it for fake game scares and sudden punchlines.
This is a short horror-meme sting built for one job: making the viewer flinch. The clip runs just over five seconds, holding a tense, uneasy quiet before erupting into a harsh, distorted burst of screaming noise and digital clipping. The Punpun connection is visual and tonal rather than musical, twisting the normally simple, blank-faced bird character into corrupted creepypasta territory. Played at full volume it lands like a classic jumpscare, spiking the listener's adrenaline before the laugh kicks in. It works because the contrast is so abrupt, turning a cute, melancholic mascot into something suddenly aggressive and loud.
