The line comes from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, where Rainbow Dash uses it while judging a dress design she finds too plain. Fans clipped the moment early in the show's online life, and it became a shorthand in the brony community for demanding a cooler version of almost anything. It later spread beyond the fandom into general meme edits and reaction videos, where the percentage itself became the joke. It endures because it is short, instantly recognisable and easy to drop over any upgrade.

Rainbow Dash's 'about 20% cooler' line from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, used in edits and memes to say an upgrade is instantly better.
This is Rainbow Dash's confident, slightly smug delivery of the line about making something about twenty percent cooler, taken from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Her voice is bright, fast and self-assured, with a playful emphasis that makes the claim sound both serious and completely over the top. Played over a before-and-after clip, a new outfit, a redrawn character or a rebuilt setup, it instantly frames the change as an upgrade, even when the difference is tiny. The joke lands because Rainbow Dash believes it completely, and the listener is invited to agree that yes, it really is cooler now.
