Frau Engel, full name Irene Engel, is a senior Nazi officer and main antagonist in Wolfenstein: The New Order, released in 2014 by MachineGames. Early in the campaign B.J. Blazkowicz encounters her and her companion Bubi in a train compartment, where she forces him to play a card selection game presented as a racial purity test. The scene became one of the game's most quoted moments online, shared in parts on soundboards and in edits because Engel's polite menace defined the character before later appearances in Wolfenstein II.
O tym dźwięku
Audio from Frau Engel's tense train scene in Wolfenstein: The New Order, where she interrogates B.J. Blazkowicz. Used for gaming edits and villain moments.
This clip captures Frau Engel during the train journey to Berlin in Wolfenstein: The New Order, speaking in her calm, controlled and deliberately intimidating manner. Her measured German-accented English, paired with quiet train ambience and pauses, creates immediate tension even without visuals. Engel is not shouting, which makes the threat feel more personal and unsettling. Listeners recognize the power imbalance of the interrogation, where politeness masks cruelty. The audio works because her voice stays composed while the situation feels dangerous, turning a simple conversation into a memorable villain showcase.
