The Hampster Dance began in 1998 as a GeoCities page by Canadian art student Deidre LaCarte, filled with rows of animated GIF hamsters dancing to a sped-up clip from Disney's 1973 Robin Hood. The page spread by email and early web links long before social media, becoming one of the first viral memes. A full song version by Hampton and the Hampsters followed in 2000 and charted in several countries. Its chipmunk pitch and simple loop still signal early internet nostalgia in edits and remixes today.
O tym dźwięku
The Hamster Dance is a fast, high-pitched chipmunk-style song loop from the late 1990s internet meme, used for silly dances and nostalgic edits.
The Hamster Dance is a sped-up, bouncy loop built around a whistled melody and a relentlessly cheerful chipmunk-like vocal hook repeating dee da dee da dee do do. Taken from Roger Miller's Whistle Stop and pitched up to cartoon speed, the music feels frantic, sugary and impossible to sit still to. Over twenty three seconds it builds a manic, happy energy that instantly signals silliness rather than coolness. Listeners tend to picture rows of animated hamsters dancing in sync, and the sheer repetition makes the tune stick in the head long after it stops.
