Knuckles the Echidna is a long-running character from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, known for his serious attitude and frequent misunderstandings, which makes a simple denial from him especially funny. Short clips of his voice have circulated widely on TikTok, YouTube Shorts and meme soundboards, where editors reuse them as quick reaction audio rather than as full scenes. This two-second version survives because it needs no context: anyone can recognise the shrug, the confusion and the refusal to pretend otherwise.

Knuckles saying he does not know in this short meme sound effect, used by creators as a funny reaction when a character is confused or caught off guard.
This short clip captures Knuckles the Echidna delivering a blunt, confused admission that he does not know what is going on. His voice is flat and slightly exasperated, with a pause that makes the denial land harder than a longer explanation would. Lasting just over two seconds, the line works because it is instantly recognisable and easy to drop into almost any awkward moment. Viewers hear the familiar Sonic character shrugging off a question, and the comedy comes from his total lack of pretence. It feels like a quick, deadpan shrug in audio form, perfect for undercutting a confusing scene.
