The theme is Roundball Rock, composed by John Tesh for NBC's coverage of the NBA, which aired from 1990 to 2002. Its upbeat, brass-led melody became closely linked with the league's most famous era, including the Chicago Bulls dynasty and Michael Jordan's championship runs. After NBC lost the rights, the music lived on in highlight videos, memes and sports edits, keeping its association with big basketball moments. Its return alongside NBC's renewed NBA coverage has reinforced that nostalgic, high-stakes feeling for a new generation of fans.
O tym dźwięku
The iconic NBA on NBC intro theme, a triumphant brass fanfare used to introduce basketball broadcasts and hype up game highlights and sports edits.
This is the opening fanfare from NBC's NBA broadcasts, a bold orchestral theme built around soaring brass, driving percussion and a rising melody that instantly signals big-game energy. It starts with a confident, almost cinematic swell before the main motif kicks in, giving it the feel of a championship moment rather than a simple jingle. Hearing it triggers instant nostalgia for 1990s basketball for many listeners, while for newer viewers it just sounds triumphant and dramatic. That mix of excitement and importance makes it perfect for introductions, reveals and montages where the moment needs to feel larger than life.
