The sound comes from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Rockstar's 2004 open-world game set in the fictional state of San Andreas, where Big Smoke is a central Grove Street Families member and close associate of protagonist CJ. Clips of his expressive voice lines circulated widely as GTA gameplay videos, memes and reaction edits grew online, with this drawn-out reaction becoming a shorthand for disbelief and impressed surprise. It endures alongside CJ's famous line because both capture the game's humour and larger-than-life characters in just a couple of seconds.

Big Smoke's long 'ooooooh' from GTA: San Andreas, used as a reaction sound when a reveal, fail or twist lands in memes, gaming edits and reaction videos.
This short clip captures Big Smoke, the larger-than-life Grove Street character from GTA: San Andreas, letting out a slow, rising 'ooooooh' that stretches out in disbelief and amusement. His deep, expressive voice starts low, swells with surprise and then hangs in the air just long enough to make the moment feel bigger than it is. It works because it sounds like a genuine, theatrical reaction rather than a quick punchline, so viewers instantly read it as shock, admiration or dawning realisation. Dropped over a reveal or an unexpected twist, it turns a small beat into a shared joke, inviting the audience to react along with him.
