Bob and Doug McKenzie were created by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas for SCTV, where their Great White North sketches turned Canadian slang into a hit comedy act. Their 1983 film Strange Brew took the brothers to cinemas, and take off became their best known put down. The phrase spread through reruns, quotes and soundboards, and it still appears in edits as a shorthand for goofy Canadian humour and a harmless way to tell someone to back off.
O tym dźwięku
Bob and Doug McKenzie say take off, don't wreck in this short clip from Strange Brew, used for joking goodbyes and Canadian comedy reactions.
This is Bob and Doug McKenzie in full hosers mode, trading their famous take off insult in a quick, deadpan exchange that lands and ends before it wears out. The voices are loose, nasal and unmistakably Canadian, with that laid back SCTV timing where the joke is as much the delivery as the words themselves. It works because it sounds friendly even while telling someone to get lost, making it perfect for a light roast, a fake argument or a character who needs to exit a scene without any real anger behind it.
