William Afton is the central villain of Five Nights at Freddy's, the horror game series created by Scott Cawthon that began in 2014. Also known through forms like the Purple Guy and Springtrap, Afton became a favorite subject for fan edits and lore videos. His scream clip spread through gaming communities alongside the FNAF jumpscare scream, shared on soundboards and in short horror memes. Because the sound is instantly tied to the franchise's animatronic scares, creators still use it to signal danger, panic or a dark twist in a joke.

The William Afton scream is a distorted horror sound from Five Nights at Freddy's, used for jumpscares, FNAF edits and sudden scare reactions in videos.
This clip captures a loud, distorted scream associated with William Afton, the main antagonist of Five Nights at Freddy's. The sound is harsh and panicked, with a raw, echoing quality that cuts through dialogue and music instantly. It lasts several seconds, building a sense of dread before the peak hits. Listeners recognize it as a moment of terror and loss of control, which is why it works so well as a punchline for horror edits. The scream feels both in-game and theatrical, making ordinary failures or surprises feel dramatically frightening.
