Wind Of Change was written by Scorpions lead singer Klaus Meine and released on the album Crazy World in 1990, becoming a hit single in 1991. Inspired by the band performing in Moscow in 1989, its lyrics and whistled melody came to symbolise the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War in Europe. Decades later the intro is reused online as shorthand for transformation and nostalgia, appearing in history edits, travel videos and memes about how much times have changed.
