The sound comes from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, released for Nintendo 64 in 2000 as the darker follow-up to Ocarina of Time. Gorons feature heavily around Snowhead Mountain, where Link gains the Goron Mask and learns to curl into a rolling ball. Clips of Gorons slipping, rolling and crashing became popular in gameplay compilations and meme edits because the heavy rock body contrasts with the helpless cry. Short game effects like this later spread widely on soundboards, where Zelda fans reuse them for instant, recognisable fail moments.
