The Minions first appeared in Illumination's Despicable Me in 2010, created as Gru's clumsy yellow helpers who speak a mix of gibberish, Spanish and English. Banana became their most quoted obsession because of their childlike love of fruit, repeated across the films and the 2015 Minions spin-off.
