The lightsaber first appeared in Star Wars in 1977, created for George Lucas's space saga as the weapon of the Jedi and Sith. Sound designer Ben Burtt built its distinctive hum from a film projector motor mixed with television interference, then recorded the swing whooshes by waving a microphone in front of a speaker playing that hum back. As the films and later shows spread worldwide, the whoosh became shorthand for any fast energy blade, and short isolated versions like this one now circulate widely for fan edits and parodies.

A short lightsaber whoosh sound effect from the Star Wars universe, with a fast energy blade swing used for fight scenes, fan edits and memes.
This is a quick, sweeping whoosh made to imitate a lightsaber blade cutting through the air. It rises and falls in pitch over about a second, with a smooth synthetic hum underneath the swing that gives it a sense of speed and power. There is no voice or hit at the end, just the clean pass of the blade, which makes it easy to layer over movement. Placed at the right moment it instantly turns an ordinary object swing into a dramatic sci-fi duel moment for the viewer.
