Adventure Time is an American animated television series that became widely quoted online for its dry, offbeat humour, and this short check please line fits that style perfectly. The phrase itself is a familiar restaurant request, which is why it works so well as a social punchline for ending something awkward. Shared through soundboards and short-form edits, the clip is often paired with reaction videos, dating fails and cringe moments. Its appeal has lasted because the joke needs no context: everyone understands wanting the bill and a quick exit.

A short Adventure Time voice clip of a character saying mmm, check please, used as a funny reaction when someone wants to leave an awkward conversation.
The clip is a brief, deadpan voice line from Adventure Time, lasting just over five seconds, in which a character hums a thoughtful mmm before asking for the check. The delivery is calm, slightly awkward and deliberately understated, with a short pause that makes the request feel like a polite escape rather than a complaint. It lands as a punchline because it says what everyone is thinking when a meal, date or conversation has gone on too long. Listeners instantly recognise the cartoon timing, the dry humour and the feeling of wanting to slip away without causing a scene.
