Steklovata was a Russian pop group from Orenburg formed around 1993 by Denis Belikin and Artur Eremeev, later rediscovered online when recordings of their song Novy God circulated on YouTube and social media. The amateur staging, sincere delivery and simple synth arrangement turned the performance into a long running post Soviet meme, shared far beyond its original audience. Clips resurfaced again on TikTok, where short excerpts are reused as an instantly recognisable shorthand for retro awkwardness, festive kitsch and ironic nostalgia.

Steklovata sound clip from the Russian pop group's Novy God song, a nostalgic meme audio used on TikTok for awkward, retro and ironic edits.
This clip is a short excerpt from Steklovata, the Russian pop project best known online for the earnest, low budget charm of its Novy God performance. The sound is bright, synthetic and slightly off kilter, with youthful male vocals over cheap keyboard pop that feels frozen in the early internet era. That contrast is exactly why it lands as a meme. Played over a serious or modern scene it instantly makes everything look dated, awkward and unintentionally funny, while for Russian speaking viewers it also carries a wave of childhood nostalgia and cringe recognition.
