The Yamaha XJ6 is a middleweight naked bike launched in 2009 and especially popular in Brazil, where cortando de giro became street slang for holding the throttle open until the limiter cuts in. Short phone recordings of owners doing it at meets and on streets spread widely through YouTube, TikTok and WhatsApp groups, turning the specific scream of the XJ6 into a recognisable bragging sound. Riders still use it to signal speed and status, even when the bike on screen is not an XJ6 at all.

Recording of a Yamaha XJ6 motorcycle cortando de giro, bouncing on the rev limiter, used as a loud engine sound effect in edits and bike memes.
This is a raw street recording of a Yamaha XJ6 being revved hard until the engine hits its limiter, known in Brazil as cortando de giro. The four cylinder motor screams upward, then stutters in a rapid, aggressive burst as the revs cut in and out. It is loud, raspy and relentless for over twenty seconds, with that bouncing rhythm bikers instantly recognise. The effect is pure adrenaline and show off energy, making a still photo or short clip feel fast, rebellious and much more powerful than it really is.
