About this sound

Luigi's short, mischievous laugh from the Mario games, perfect for playful fails, pranks and victory moments in videos, memes, and streams.

This is a brief, high-pitched burst of Luigi's unmistakable laugh, lasting just over a second and a half. It starts with a quick, cheeky chuckle that rises in pitch before cutting off abruptly, giving it a playful, almost taunting edge. The tone is lighter and more mischievous than a full belly laugh, which makes it land instantly as a reaction rather than background noise. Listeners recognise the Mario character straight away, so it adds humour, personality and a hint of friendly mockery to a failed jump, a prank reveal or a moment of unexpected luck.

Pro tip

Drop it right after a character falls, misses or gets caught out, then cut to silence so the laugh lands alone. Pair it with a quick zoom or green flash, but do not loop it, as the short chuckle loses its charm when repeated.

How people use it

Creators use it after a gaming fail or missed jump.
It punctuates a prank reveal in short comedy videos.
Editors add it when a villain gets outsmarted unexpectedly.
Streamers play it after winning a close multiplayer match.

More information

Luigi is Nintendo's taller, green-clad brother of Mario and a staple of the Mario games since the 1980s, known for being more nervous and playful than his famous sibling. Short voice clips of his laugh have circulated online as reaction sounds for years, especially among gaming creators and meme editors who need a quick, recognisable taunt. Because the laugh is brief and instantly tied to a beloved character, it still works as a punchline for fails, wins and light-hearted mockery without needing any explanation.
