Der Kommissar was released by Austrian singer Falco in 1981 and became an international breakthrough, bringing German-language pop to charts far beyond Austria and Germany. The song's playful police theme and catchy spoken-sung delivery made its title phrase instantly quotable, and the line Alles klar, Herr Kommissar has since lived on as a short, shareable clip. Online creators reuse it for interrogation jokes, authority gags and retro music references, keeping an eighties hit recognisable to new audiences who may never have heard the full song.
About this sound
The short German phrase Alles klar, Herr Kommissar from Falco's Der Kommissar, used in memes and edits to playfully question authority or a serious situation.
This short clip captures Falco delivering the German line Alles klar, Herr Kommissar in his cool, rhythmic, early eighties pop style, with a clipped, confident vocal that lands like a cheeky challenge. The phrase translates roughly as everything clear, Commissioner, and its dry, knowing tone makes it instantly recognisable even to listeners who do not speak German. Played over a video, it turns an ordinary moment into a mock interrogation, adding irony, attitude and a touch of retro European pop culture without needing any explanation.
