The sound comes from the Bill & Ted films, beginning with Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure in 1989, starring Alex Winter as Bill and Keanu Reeves as Ted. Their laid back surfer style speech, air guitar solos and repeated cry of excellent became defining pop culture catchphrases. Short riffs paired with that reaction spread online as a shorthand for approval and celebration, long after the original cinema run and later sequels kept the characters in circulation among new audiences discovering the movies.
About this sound
Short guitar riff and enthusiastic excellent reaction from Bill & Ted, used for wins, reveals and moments that deserve an epic rock celebration.
This three second clip pairs a bright, shredding electric guitar riff with the duo's signature upbeat approval, capturing the cheerful energy Bill and Ted bring to everything. The riff lands fast and clean, then the word excellent bursts out with genuine excitement rather than sarcasm. It feels like a mini celebration in sound form, instantly lifting a scene and signalling that something has gone brilliantly right. Viewers recognise the optimistic, slightly goofy tone straight away, which makes the moment feel triumphant without taking itself too seriously or needing any extra explanation at all.
