Cotton Eye Joe is a traditional American folk song that became a worldwide dance hit after Swedish group Rednex released their electronic version in 1994. The nugget version comes from TikTok in 2024, where an animated chicken nugget with a Roblox style man face, linked to the Gegagedigedagedago meme, sings popular songs in a distorted voice. Clips of the nugget performing Cotton Eye Joe spread quickly as brainrot humor, remixed into dances, edits and soundboard posts that keep the joke alive.
About this sound
The nugget version of Cotton Eye Joe features a singing chicken character performing the folk dance hit, used for silly edits and meme dances online.
This clip captures the nugget version of Cotton Eye Joe, where an animated chicken nugget character sings the famous chorus in a goofy, high pitched voice over a bouncy dance beat. The original folk tune is already catchy and repetitive, but the nugget delivery makes it sound completely absurd, with drawn out vowels and an overly serious expression that clashes with the silly lyrics. It loops easily and sticks in the head after one listen, which is why viewers find it both annoying and funny in equal measure, perfect for brainrot style humor.
