About this sound

The famous "Detras de ti, imbecil" voice line from Resident Evil 4, used in memes, gaming edits and surprise clips when danger appears behind someone.

This clip is the iconic Spanish line "Detras de ti, imbecil" from Resident Evil 4. It is a sharp, taunting shout delivered by an enemy, usually heard when Leon is about to get attacked from behind. The line lands fast and instantly creates tension, surprise and a bit of dark humor at the same time. Because it warns the player a second too late, it became memorable far beyond the game itself. In videos, people use it to signal an incoming fail, a sneak attack or a sudden twist that the person on screen does not notice.

Pro tip

Place this sound a split second before the reveal, not after it. It works best with a camera turn, missed warning, or enemy appearing off screen, and loses impact if the joke is already obvious.

How people use it

Adding a late warning before someone gets jump scared.
Highlighting a sneak attack in gaming montage clips.
Cutting to an obvious mistake nobody noticed.
Punctuating a meme where danger appears off screen.

This quote is associated with Resident Evil 4, the 2005 survival horror game that became hugely popular across consoles and PC. It remains popular because the meaning is instantly clear even to many nonplayers: someone is in danger and does not realize it yet. That makes it useful well beyond Resident Evil edits.
