The clip comes from Discord's lootbox feature, where opening a box could reveal novelty items including a duck, accompanied by this short squeak effect. As players recorded openings and shared the funniest low-tier reveals, the sound was clipped on its own and reused outside the app. It spread through gaming edits, stream soundboards and short meme videos as a shorthand for a random, underwhelming reward. It remains popular because the quack is instantly recognizable, very short, and fits almost any reveal joke.
About this sound
A short squeaky quack from a Discord loot box opening, this lootbox SFX is used in gaming edits, streams and memes for a silly, underwhelming reward reveal.
This is a brief, high-pitched duck squeak and quack taken from the Discord lootbox opening animation, lasting just over a second. It sounds like a rubber toy being squeezed, with a cartoonish honk that lands instantly and then cuts off clean. The abruptness is what makes it funny. Paired with an ordinary item reveal or a low-stakes win, the squeak turns the moment into a joke prize, making viewers expect something rare and get a silly duck instead. It works as a quick punchline without needing any setup or dialogue.
