We Don't Talk About Bruno comes from Disney's 2021 film Encanto, where the family sings about their estranged uncle Bruno. The other half of the phrase comes from She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5, released in 2004, which describes a girl with a broken smile. Online creators combined the two catchy lines into short mashup clips, often processed with voice changer effects for a sillier tone. The mix spread on soundboards and in fan edits because both songs are widely recognised across different generations of listeners.
About this sound
A voice-changed mashup singing We Don't Talk About Bruno mixed with Maroon 5's girl with the broken smile lyric, used for funny Encanto edits and memes.
This clip is a short voice-changed singing mashup that blends the chorus idea from We Don't Talk About Bruno with the girl with the broken smile line from Maroon 5. The pitch-shifted vocal sounds playful and slightly distorted, turning two familiar pop moments into one odd, catchy hook. It feels nostalgic and silly at the same time, because listeners recognise both references instantly but hear them in an unexpected combination. The effect is light and comedic, making a normal scene or edit feel like a musical in-joke that lands quickly.
