Giratina was introduced in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl in 2006 and became the cover legendary for Pokemon Platinum in 2008 on Nintendo DS. Created by Game Freak, it is the Ghost and Dragon type Renegade Pokemon said to live in the Distortion World. Its in game cry was ripped from the games and shared across forums, YouTube edits and soundboards as a shorthand for a legendary encounter. Fans still use it because few creature cries sound so distorted, ancient and instantly recognisable.
About this sound
Giratina cry sound effect from Pokemon Platinum, the legendary Ghost and Dragon type roar players use for battles, edits and gaming memes online today.
This is the distinctive cry of Giratina, the Renegade Pokemon, a short distorted roar that mixes a deep growl with a metallic screech. It lasts just over two seconds but feels much larger, rising sharply before echoing out like something emerging from another dimension. The sound is unsettling and powerful at the same time, instantly signalling danger, mystery and legendary strength. For Pokemon fans it triggers immediate recognition, while for other viewers it works as a dramatic creature sound that makes a normal scene feel epic, eerie and slightly otherworldly.
