Goku is the central hero of Dragon Ball, the manga created by Akira Toriyama in 1984 and later adapted into long running anime series including Dragon Ball Z. His battle cries and power up screams became a defining part of the character, widely imitated by fans. Online, stretched versions of his name and shouts were clipped and shared on soundboards and in meme edits, where the longer the vowel the funnier the effect. It remains popular because even viewers who have not seen the series recognise the sound as anime hype.
About this sound
A drawn out Goku scream sound effect from Dragon Ball, stretched into a meme cry that creators use for power ups, fails and dramatic reactions online.
This clip is a stretched, high energy shout of Goku's name, drawn out as gokuuuu with rising intensity before it cuts off. It sounds like an anime power up moment turned into a joke, part scream, part call out, and instantly recognisable to Dragon Ball fans. The extended vowel makes it feel bigger and sillier than a normal shout, so a quiet scene suddenly feels dramatic. Viewers hear it as hype and exaggeration at once, which is why it lands well over transformations, charges, and over the top reactions.
