The line comes from the 2008 real time strategy game Command and Conquer Red Alert 3, performed by Tim Curry as Premier Anatoly Cherdenko in a live action cutscene. Curry's exaggerated delivery made the clip a favourite on YouTube and forums, where the space line was quoted, remixed and captioned far beyond the game's audience. It became a shorthand reaction for escaping capitalism or any modern annoyance, and remains one of the most recognised Red Alert quotes among strategy fans and meme users.
About this sound
Tim Curry as Premier Cherdenko in Red Alert 3 saying he is escaping to the one place not corrupted by capitalism, space, used for meme exits.
This is Tim Curry delivering one of his most quoted lines as Soviet Premier Cherdenko in Command and Conquer Red Alert 3. He announces with theatrical triumph that he is escaping to the one place that has not been corrupted by capitalism, before pausing and shouting space. His hammy, overblown delivery turns a story moment into pure comedy, and the sudden build from serious speech to absurd destination makes it land as a punchline. It works instantly as a reaction to anything people want to dramatically flee from.
