Old Gregg first appeared in The Mighty Boosh in 2005, in the series two episode The Legend of Old Gregg. Played by Noel Fielding, he is a hermaphroditic merman who lives in a cave under a lake and becomes obsessed with Howard Moon after catching him while fishing. Clips and quotes circulated widely on YouTube and forums in the late 2000s, turning lines like the self introduction into a cult shorthand. The character remains a staple of British comedy memes and reaction edits.
About this sound
I'm Old Gregg sound effect from The Mighty Boosh, the creepy merman introducing himself. Used for weird entrances, awkward greetings and meme edits.
This is the extended take of Old Gregg announcing himself in his unmistakable, soft and unsettling voice. The line drags just long enough to feel uncomfortable, blending childlike politeness with a threatening, lovesick energy that made the character unforgettable. It is not shouted or dramatic, it creeps in, which is why it lands so well as a punchline. The delivery turns a simple introduction into an instant signal that something very strange, needy and slightly dangerous has just entered the scene, and everyone should be worried.
