Kupo is the signature cry of the moogles, the small winged mascot creatures of Square Enix's Final Fantasy series, where they have appeared as shopkeepers, messengers and save-point helpers since the early 1990s. The chirpy double 'kupo kupo' delivery became a fan-favourite shorthand for the creatures themselves. Outside the games it spread through fan videos, streams and reaction compilations, where the sound works as an instant signal of cuteness or playful mischief. Its brevity and unmistakable tone keep it popular as an alert and meme staple.
About this sound
The iconic chirpy 'kupo' cry of the moogle mascots from Final Fantasy. Fans use this cute high-pitched sound as a playful reaction, alert or notification tone.
This two-second clip captures the signature 'kupo' chirp of a Final Fantasy moogle, the small bat-winged mascot creature of the series, repeated twice in quick succession. The voice is high-pitched, soft and squeaky, almost like a cross between a kitten's mew and a cartoon bird call, delivered with a cheerful bounce. Hearing it instantly signals something cute, friendly or mischievously helpful is happening, which is why it lands so well as a lighthearted punctuation mark. It feels warm and nostalgic to longtime fans, and simply adorable to everyone else.
