About this sound

The Chicken Jockey sound effect from A Minecraft Movie, featuring Steve's excited shout as a baby zombie rides a chicken into battle for memes and reactions.

This clip captures the moment Steve spots one of Minecraft's rarest mobs in A Minecraft Movie, shouting Chicken Jockey with pure excitement as a baby zombie appears riding on top of a chicken. The delivery is loud, fast and slightly unhinged, turning a simple mob name into an instant punchline. The absurd visual paired with the over the top announcement makes the line land like a boss reveal, even though the threat is tiny. It works because the energy is completely disproportionate to what is actually happening on screen.

Pro tip

Drop the shout right as a tiny or unexpected character enters frame for maximum contrast, letting the audio peak before you cut to the reaction. Keep the original movie clip underneath for a half second, then freeze or zoom for comedic timing.

How people use it

Reveal a small pet entering the room dramatically.
Punchline for unexpected Minecraft mob appearances in gameplay.
Reaction to a kid riding something ridiculous fast.
Intro sound for chaotic duo entrances in edits.

More information

Chicken jockeys first appeared in Minecraft as a rare mob combination where a baby zombie or baby zombie villager rides a chicken, spawning naturally with a very low chance. The phrase exploded in popularity in 2025 with A Minecraft Movie, where Jack Black as Steve announces the creature during a fight scene in the arena. Trailers turned the line into a viral catchphrase on TikTok and YouTube, with theater audiences shouting it back during screenings and creators reusing the audio for any dramatic small entrance.
