Octogeddon is an indie action game released in 2018 by George Fan, the creator of Plants vs Zombies, about a giant octopus that evolves new limbs and destroys cities in revenge. Its roars became popular clips outside the game because the creature mixes cartoon comedy with genuine monster scale. Players and editors ripped the short roar for soundboards, gameplay montages and meme edits, where its brief length and heavy low end make it easy to drop onto any oversized animal, boss enemy or dramatic entrance without overwhelming the scene.
About this sound
The Octopus Roar from Octogeddon is a deep monstrous sound effect used for boss fights, giant creature reveals and funny kaiju edits online.
This is the guttural roar of the giant mutant octopus from Octogeddon, a short burst of low, wet growling layered with a rising snarl. It starts deep in the throat, vibrates with raw power, then cuts off sharply after about a second and a half. The sound feels huge and slightly ridiculous at the same time, which makes it perfect for a creature that is both threatening and cartoonish. Played over a reveal or a sudden attack, it instantly makes anything on screen feel bigger, angrier and ready to destroy a city.
