About this sound

A 17-second classic telephone ring sound effect, ideal for prank videos, comedy skits and message alerts. Press play to hear the phone99 clip.

This 17-second phone99 clip captures the insistent trill of a classic telephone ring, looping with a bright, slightly harsh electronic warble that cuts through background noise. Each burst rises and falls in the familiar double-ring pattern, sounding close and crisp as if the handset were sitting on the desk beside you. It instantly signals an incoming call, creating a small jolt of urgency or anticipation in the listener. Because the tone is so universally recognised, it works as a comic interruption, a fake notification or a scene-setting detail that needs no explanation.

Pro tip

Drop the ring just before a punchline or a fake incoming-call cutaway, then hard-cut the audio the moment someone 'answers' for comic timing. Lower it under dialogue as a background cue, and avoid looping it more than twice or the trill will grate on viewers.

How people use it

Pranksters fake an incoming call during street interviews.
Editors interrupt awkward silences with a sudden ring.
Streamers pretend their phone buzzes mid-game for laughs.
Skit makers open scenes with a ringing telephone cue.
