The phrase I choose you became Ash Ketchum's signature battle call in the Pokemon anime, which began in Japan in 1997 and quickly became a global phenomenon in the late 1990s. Pidgeotto was one of Ash's early team members, so this specific call is tied to the first season and the original journey through Kanto. Clips of the line spread through forums, video edits and soundboards as Pokemon nostalgia grew online, and it remains a shorthand for confidently selecting a character, creature or teammate.
About this sound
Ash calls out Pidgeotto with the classic I choose you line from Pokemon, a nostalgic anime voice clip used for summoning memes and battle intros.
This clip captures the moment Ash Ketchum throws a Poke Ball and calls out Pidgeotto with his signature I choose you declaration. The voice is youthful, confident and full of energy, rising on the final words as the Pokemon is sent into battle. For anyone who grew up with the Pokemon anime, the line instantly brings back Saturday morning battles, trading and playground reenactments. It works less as dialogue and more as a pure nostalgia trigger, announcing that something is about to be unleashed with total belief and dramatic flair.
