The Pokémon main theme comes from the English dub of the Pokémon animated series, which premiered in the late 1990s following the success of the Game Boy games. Its chorus became one of the most recognised anime theme songs in the world, quoted and parodied far beyond the fandom. The opening lines promise mastery and adventure in a few words, so even a tiny excerpt like this first part instantly identifies the franchise and triggers shared nostalgia for a generation who grew up watching Ash begin his journey.
About this sound
Opening of the Pokémon anime main theme with I wanna be the very best and Gotta catch em all, used for anime edits, nostalgia posts and fan videos.
This clip is the opening section of the Pokémon anime main theme, the instantly recognisable pop-rock song built around the lines I wanna be the very best and Gotta catch em all. Bright electric guitars, punchy drums and an eager male vocal drive it forward with pure Saturday-morning energy. Even in just a few seconds it signals adventure, ambition and childhood nostalgia. Viewers hear it and immediately picture setting out on a journey to train, battle and collect, which is why the fragment works so well as a heroic, feel-good sting.
