The sound comes from The Next Episode, a track from Dr. Dre's 1999 album 2001 featuring Snoop Dogg, Kurupt and Nate Dogg. Its laid-back West Coast production and memorable vocal hook helped it become one of the most recognisable hip-hop intros of its era. Years later, short clips of the opening began circulating on social media and video platforms, where creators paired it with confident entrances, transformations and small victories. It remains popular because the groove signals coolness instantly, without needing any explanation or context.
About this sound
The instantly recognisable intro from Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's The Next Episode, often used in memes for smooth entrances, confident reveals and laid-back wins.
This twelve-second clip captures the cool, instantly recognisable opening of The Next Episode, where a smooth West Coast hip-hop beat drops beneath Snoop Dogg's laid-back vocal hook. It sounds warm and confident rather than loud, with a deep, rolling bassline, crisp percussion and a relaxed groove that makes everything feel effortless. Listeners usually recognise it within a second, even before any words land, because the melody has become shorthand for swagger. In a video it instantly changes the mood, turning an ordinary entrance, outfit reveal or small win into something stylish, self-assured and a little cheeky.
