About this sound

Squidward goofy ahh sound effect from SpongeBob SquarePants, a short silly vocal reaction creators use for awkward, dumb or embarrassing moments online.

This short clip turns Squidward from SpongeBob SquarePants into a goofy ahh reaction, with a drawn out, wobbly vocal sound that feels annoyed, confused and ridiculous at the same time. It lasts barely two seconds, so the joke lands instantly without needing any setup or dialogue around it. The exaggerated tone makes a normal fail look much sillier, like the character himself is judging the moment. Creators use that contrast between Squidward's usual grumpy seriousness and this loose, stupid noise to punctuate awkward pauses, bad decisions and cringe comedy edits.

Pro tip

Drop it right after the mistake is revealed, not before, and let the full ahh tail play over a frozen frame or zoom in on the face. Keep music low underneath, and do not loop it, because one clean hit keeps Squidward's reaction funnier.

How people use it
