About this sound

Metal Sonic voice line saying target acquired from the Final Escape with lyrics fan video, used for locking on, spotting enemies and meme edits.

This is a short robotic voice line from Metal Sonic delivering the phrase target acquired in a flat, mechanical tone. The delivery is cold and precise, with a slight metallic processing that makes it sound like a targeting system locking onto its mark. At just over a second long, it lands as an instant confirmation rather than a full sentence. Viewers hear it as both threatening and funny, because the serious villain delivery is dropped into ordinary situations where someone has simply been spotted, chosen or called out in a game or edit.

Pro tip

Place it exactly on the frame where a character, enemy or object first enters view or gets highlighted. Pair it with a quick zoom, red outline or lock-on graphic, and do not stretch it with reverb, as the dry robotic snap is the joke.

How people use it

Drop it when a gamer spots an enemy player.
Use it for edits where someone locks onto food.
Add it when a pet suddenly stares at something.
Play it before a character starts chasing another character.

More information

The clip comes from a voiceline featured in Final Escape With Lyrics, a fan video by creator AbysmalCha0s that circulated in the Sonic fan community online. Metal Sonic is Sega's robotic rival to Sonic the Hedgehog, often portrayed as a cold, single-minded machine built to track and defeat him. That reputation is why the line spread beyond Sonic edits into wider gaming memes, where target acquired became shorthand for a lock-on moment, similar in spirit to the classic enemy spotted callout used in shooters.
